After thinking the WA Sales Classic’s were again going to be held in April next season, we are informed that the WA Sales Classics have now been shifted back into February for 2011.
BOTRA is very disappointed at this decision as it goes against what the majority of the industry want.
Owners and Trainers have paid up for and also prepared their yearlings thinking that the WA Sales Classics would be held in April 2011 and they have every right to also be disappointed.
BOTRA believes that for Gloucester Standardbreds to lock the Sales Classics in for April and then demand it be changed back to February (using very questionable claims) this late is at best, an extremely poor decision.
So because of this BOTRA has written to Gloucester Standardbreds detailing our disappointment and that their decision goes against what the majority of the industry wants. The letter also states that BOTRA believe that that purchasers who have paid up for the WA Sales Classics with the expectancy of a Sales Classics date in April 2011 should be given a refund, if they so request.
BOTRA also sent a text message to trainers stating this also.

Dear Diane
BOTRA has been informed by the WATA that the WA Sales Classics races have been scheduled to be run in February 2011. This decision is not only disappointing, but is against the majority within the industry which recommended April 2011 as the preferred date.
There has been little consideration given to the young horses or their prospective purchasers who paid up for the Classics with an April 2011 date in mind.
The decision to alter the date of the WA Sales Classics appears to be detrimental to the wishes of many purchasers of yearlings.
Due to this BOTRA believes that purchasers who have paid up with the expectancy of a Sales Classics date in April 2011 should be given a refund, if they so request.
